Trip to Snowmass Part 2

Here we are on the 4th of July getting ready to go to the parade in Aspen!
We ate breakfast at Main Street Bakery- it was so good!  We were glad to get to Aspen early because the parade is a big deal.

The boys standing in front of a cool racecar!
Of course, Jaron and Elijah had to get Batman painted on their faces.

We played some carnival games...

Here is Mommy with the boys waiting for the parade to come!

This was such a cute float...it was a mini-cardboard version of some Aspen landmarks.
The boys retrieved lots of candy and toys!

After the parade, we even visited some Aspen museums.
Sweet brothers!
Here are the 3 boys with Mammas and PopPop outside on the deck.
Jaron and Elijah at the Snowmass playground on our last day in Colorado for the summer!
We stopped in Santa Fe on the drive home, and this time we stayed in the Hotel St. Francis, another great spot.
We woke up the next morning and had French toast at Pasqual's.

Then, Cary came up with the fantastic idea to stay one more night in Santa Fe!  We just didn't want our vacation to end.  So we stayed!
We went to the Santa Fe Children's Museum where Elijah dressed up like a puppy dog.  SO cute!!
Jaron also found a costume!
This was a GREAT museum.  They played and played.
They both got to hold a baby bunny!

And then then got their arms painted.

And their faces painted by Daddy!

Here is Jaron with a Santa Fe warrior.
Dinner on our last night of vacation!
Jaron with a new McDonald's toy on the drive home!
What a WONDERFUL TIME!!!

Trip to Snowmass Part 1

On June 18, we got up early and headed out on our road trip to Colorado.  The boys still had their balloon animals from the Anniversary Party the night before (see below), and of course we had all sorts of games, music, movies, snacks, and a few surprise toys.  The boys did GREAT on this road trip.  They watched movies from time to time, but mostly they enjoyed listening to "Daddy's music" and looking out the window.  Elijah spent a lot of time singing "Jesus loves the little children," and other songs he had learned at VBS.  Sweet boys!

In New Mexico, we stopped at a rest stop with a car museum.  Here they are standing by their favorite cars.  (No, we did not brush their hair when they got up that morning.)

Finally, dinner at The Shed in Santa Fe, our overnight stop.  We had a free room at the Anasazi for the night, and it was WONDERFUL!
Here we are at Independence Pass.  When we got out of the car, the boys said, "It's COLD, Mommy!" It was BEAUTIFUL!
Finally arriving in Snowmass!
The next morning our friends the McMahans joined us.  They spent 5 days with us and we all had tons of fun!

Here we are at the Snowmass Rodeo.

Hawkins and Jaron in the same Star Wars pajamas!
Decorating t-shirts out on the porch

Swimming at the Snowmass Club!
Hawkins and Lindsay right after Hawkins's first bite of broccoli!  Yay!
Outside of Boogies Diner with their balloon swords.
Here is Jaron up on top of the playground in Aspen.
Here are a couple of pics from the Snowmass playground.

Dinner at my favorite- Woody Creek Tavern!

Back at the house
Eating s'mores

Daddy and Elijah
After our friends left we had to entertain the boys with something...so we got out this Rescue Heroes set with about 20 guys and a ship that Cary and I bought at a garage sale before the trip.  Jaron and Elijah played with it every day.
Sweet Jaron having a Nutter Butter snack with Daddy by the river.

New hat!!
Picking up Jordan at the airport.  Yay!
So glad Bubba is here!

Sweet brothers!!
Our little Elijah is getting so big!  He is such a precious and sweet boy.
Here are Cary and the boys "bouldering," which is their term for climbing up these rocks outside the house.
One day we went into town and ate lunch at CP Burger and played miniature golf.  Gorgeous weather!

After lunch and golf, the big boys went and saw the movie, "Brave"....
And Elijah and Mommy went and got his hair spray painted red and blue!
Mommy got a braid as well...

We also relaxed....
And ate a snack together on a park bench...
Jordan and Jaron on top of the world!
And in the bath....:)
Jordan (and Jaron) spent a whole lot of time trying to catch one of these chipmunks.  They came close....
Jordan and Cary took a couple of "big boy" day trips.  One day they went mountain biking on Snowmass Mountain.

Tough day...
One afternoon we decorated hats and backpacks...

It poured down rain and when it finally let up, we caught the Thursday evening concert on Snowmass Mountain.
The next morning we took a hike on Ditch Trail and the boys went on this scavenger hunt:

Cary and I had date night at Sage.
Here are Cary and Jordan going on their river rafting trip.

We stayed home and did "melty beads" crafts!  SO fun!

Here we are eating a pancake breakfast at Poppycocks, a local favorite.

Then we found a super cool park where the boys spent a couple of hours playing.  We could not have done that in Dallas in July!!

The boys as part of Aspen contemporary art.
By the river...
We came so close to so many deer.  It was amazing how easy it was to see them.  Here's one right around the corner from the house.
Here are Jordan and Jaron making bubbles with a gadget that Jordan learned about in town.
Snowcone time at the Snowmass club party!
Jaron got a baboon (his favorite animal) painted on his arm, and Elijah got a little blue (his favorite color) puppy dog.
A marshmallow snowman!  Yummy!
Sweet treats for sweet boys!
Mammas and Poppop arrived!  We were so happy to get to spend a few days with them.
Outside the golf course restaurant at the Snowmass Club.
Jaron and Jordan took a couple of tennis lessons while we were there.  It was fun to see them pick up a new sport.
At the pool once again!
Stay tuned for more of this trip....there's a lot of fun coming!
